Moving Pictures / art 2 move / graphic art AND dance
The project follows the idea to show children and young people the access to graphic art / painting in a way in which they can experience it actively, physically and sensually through the connection of museum pedagogic and dance pedagogic / choreographic dealing with and interpretation of works of graphic art.
The meeting of dance as performing art with graphic art is more than interpretation. There choreography develops which bases on the contents and aesthetic realisation of the work, but freely develops a new form and confronts the work with it. The aim for every group should be a final presentation to appear before the public.
This cooperation is thinkable: The resp. twin towns with their museums and museum pedagogues and choreographers resp. dance pedagogues, school classes and teachers.

What tanzwerk plans concerning this subject is this:
A 4-years-project is planned with resp. half-yearly work phases. The start could be in winter half-year 2006. It could be a cooperation of German and European twin towns and their museums. In each town resp. 3 school classes of different age levels work half a year on a subject resp. work of graphic art (picture, sculpture, installation, etc). The access to the work starts with the aid of museum pedagogy, and then comes choreographic realisation and development. During the half-year partial projects resp. 3-6 events / public presentations should take place in the participating towns.

The work phases could be like this: A group deals with the work resp. half a year in weekly and/or concentrated work phases in the museum, in the dance studio and at school.

Activities:
In courses and workshops and as well by projects, events and performances tanzwerk instructs and presents contemporary dance in its manifold form and it supports free dancers and their productions in Bremen.

Projects:
In the following text a project is presented which is the fifth project out of five projects which mainly deal with social phenomena which probably concern both twin towns resp. countries in Europe, which therefore are not only specific for Bremen/Germany or Gdansk/Poland.
The chosen working methods and ways how the ideas are put into action - dance and dance theatre - are special forms of expression and function also across different areas of culture and language because they are mediate by physical sensuality.

the Occasion Dance Theatre - movement based on the techniques of modern dance and artistic being in created figures

Achievements:
many spectacles on many festivals in many countries. By many critics in many professional polish newspapers the Occasion Dance Theatre is considered as one of the best polish theatres.
Co-operation possibilities: Searching mainly for: dance theatre or physical theatre

Suggested possibilities of co-operation:

Here you have the summary after our German - Polish session by dancers of Tanzwerk and Teatr Okazjonalny (the Occasion Dance Theatre):

Common things:
Art field - contemporary dance technique and dance theatre; system of work (picking up professional dancers to project etc.); educational system (teaching, giving workshop) etc. Also artistic point of view for dance, theatre and society.

Our common goals:
Artistic and education experience exchange: presentation R. Hammes' spectacle in Sopot/Gdansk and the Occasion Dance Theatre in Bremen, observation dance society, giving workshop and discussion about dance theatre in partnering town, getting know dance field in both towns and area: we can use for that our own activity, activity of our base (Lagerhaus and Sopocka Scena Off de Bicz and Dance Theatre Festival OPOZYCJA) and our friends - partners in our towns ( Dance Desk and Festival Gdanska Korporacja Tanca in Gdansk and Tanztour Festival and Tanzstadt Bremen).
We would like to prepare also common spectacle: half time work on that project would be in Sopot, another in Bremen. After each one the audience could see effects of our work. It could be great if this cooperation will start next year in January. Proposal theme for spectacle is morality in the army - soldier's stories. It should be a great opportunity to share the professional experience in mature artistic way by mature and strong artist.

First meeting should be in April during Dance Theatre Festival OPOZYCJA. The main goal in this festival is finding a way to connect dance and theatre on high artistic level. We would like to invite Rolf's project based on P. Hantke tekst. If this edition of OPOZYCJA Festival will not take place in April because of gap of money we hope it will possible to organise it on Autumn.
The second step will be the Occasion Dance Theatre visit during Tanztour Festival. It will be for getting know and observing a dance society but it would be greate to perform in window parts of Lagerhaus building.
Third Rolf's visit in Gdansk during Gdanska Korporacja Tanca Festival (August).

These are the most important facts, which we discussed about.

As you can see we have quite strong plan for cooperation. We are going to continue that, too.
