  meetings & results

The roundabout way which was chosen in this project was a good decision: At the first meeting of the Bremen-Gdansk NGO-Forum a Bremen school as tandem-partner for the Gdansk "New School" was still missing. Commendably Mr. Michael Haag from Grundschulwerkstatt at the Bremen University who also represents the association Entdeckendes Lernen took part as an interim partner and talked with the two teachers from the private educational institution which practices all-day schooling. He carefully listened to the project ideas of Mrs. Ewa Majrowska and Mrs. Danuta Parys, and immediately after the meeting he found a tandem-partner for "New School"! This is the Schule am Pulverberg (www.pulverberg.de) which also is interested in concepts of all-day schooling and which has a Polish teacher, Mrs. Iwona Gazda, who filled her colleagues with enthusiasm about the idea of cooperating with a school in Gdansk. Without meeting directly the German and Polish teachers quickly agreed upon two common projects: Mutual visits of school classes and a theatre project for the whole Gdansk school led by Mrs. Anne Heinz from Bremen.

  results & outlook

Meeting in Gdansk 30 June – 2 July 2006

On the occasion of the summer meeting of the Bremen-Gdansk NGO-Forum in Gdansk Mrs. Ewa Majrowska, Mrs. Danuta Parys and Mrs. Bozena Wielechowska from Nasza Szkola / Our School told me how glad they are about their cooperation partner in Bremen, the Schule am Pulverberg, which we found for them in February with the help of Mr. Michael Haag from the Grundschulwerkstatt at Bremen University who also participated in the discussion at the education table on the occasion of the first meeting of our Bremen-Gdansk NGO-Forum. They reported enthusiastically about their first meeting with the Bremen teachers who visited the Gdansk partner school three weeks before (8-9 June) as documented on the two photos. Mrs. Iwona Gazda and Mrs. Anne Heinz got to know the Gdansk institution and its pupils, they made a sightseeing tour through Gdansk and Sopot, and they agreed with their Polish colleagues upon their visit of the Bremen partner school in the beginning of October. The three Gdansk teachers informed me that Joanna and Marek Swieczkowsky from the Pomeranian Foundation Sunflower participated in the meeting at Nasza Szkola and that they would like to visit Culture Centre Lagerhaus together with the Polish pupils in the course of their stay in Bremen. They hope for a fruitful continuation of their cooperation with the Bremen partner school.
