Meeting in Gdansk 30 June – 2 July 2006

Participants:
Wojciech Stybor (Medium)
Bernd Scheda (Kulturzentrum Lagerhaus / Hostel )
Hunter Heinzelmann ( Hostel / architect)

The representative of Medium, an advertising agency in Gdansk, informed the two representatives of the Bremen hostel project that the Gdansk hostels are not particularly interested in the twin town partnership contact which is fundamental for the German side. However, he is ready to search for a Polish partner institution that fits in the structure of the planned “EU-YOU-NET” in which hostels in the other twin towns of Bremen, Riga and Izmir, shall be involved. This new net shall not enter into competition with existing backpacker and youth hostel networks. It rather defines itself as a particular association of its own which later, when it has developed, could be integrated in existing networks to which it would contribute its focal points: sustainable tourism and youth exchange.
